From Everest to the North Pole, the Central Desert of Australia to Antarctica, Australian Jon is one of the great adventurers of modern times.

Auckland University Engineering Building 401-439,

Jon MuirTV documentary on Everest sealed Jon’s future career choice at only 14 years old. By 21 he’d done enough technical ascents in the mountains of New Zealand and Europe to successfully summit one of the most technical climbs in the Himalayas - the South West Pillar of Changabang . By 23 he was on Everest. He also soloed the North Face of the Matterhorn, and a new route on Shivling’s South West Pillar in the Gangotri, which is yet to have a second ascent. He is a true explorer, with so many amazing stories, we've got an entire evening just for him to talk and inspire.
Don’t miss this one off chance to see Jon Muir!
Tickets cost $15 members, $20 non members.

Auckland Section of the NZAC

The Auckland Section of the NZ Alpine Club runs a variety of alpine, climbing & other trips throughout the year and new members are always welcome. We have a club meeting on the second Monday night of each month (may be changed for public holidays), and we also organise special events such as the Banff Film Festival or international speakers throughout the year. We run instruction courses in both snowcraft and rock climbing during the year and there is some hire gear available for members. The Auckland Section looks after the Ruapehu hut in the Tongariro National Park which provides a base for climbing, ski-touring or just getting away from the city.

Please feel free to come along to a club meeting or email one of the committee members for more information.

Contact the Meetings Organiser with questions about meetings, or if you'd like to be a speaker or help out at meetings.
