2019 Mountaineering Instruction Course for Committed Alpinists

The course is only open to NZAC club members so you will need to join before the commencement of the course to qualify.
We will teach you how to have independent mountain adventures where you will learn and practice techniques and knowledge that will give you the ‘best chance’ to come home without incident; better friends with summits.
The course is a climbing course. Our intention is to climb in the Southern Alps in appropriate locations where there is challenging and complex terrain for example: Mt Phipps, Temple, Cassidy, Blimit and Rolleston however locations are subject to weather, surface conditions and participant ability.
Who is the course for?
You have completed an NZAC Snowcraft course and intermedia course (or similar programme)
Logged 20 days in the mountains on personal adventures (summer and winter) including ascents of peaks.
Preferably: Rock climb indoors/outdoors above grade 16
Can provide references from other club members.
Good level of fitness for long alpine days and comfortable carrying a pack over 10kg.
Where & When
The course will run over 4 days and 4 nights in Arthurs Pass National Park.
11 to 15 July 2019

NZOIA Alpine Instructor. (alpine 2, Rock 2, Avalanche 1)
The total course fee is $895 and includes MSC Avalanche Awareness Course (value $295 at no extra charge).
Cost does not include: food, flights return to Christchurch, transport to Temple Basin. Estimate $325 for flights and travel.
An equipment list will be provided. You are expected to provide your own equipment. NZAC has some gear that can be hired.
