2018 Mountaineering Instruction Course for Committed Alpinists

The course is only open to NZAC club members so you will need to join before the commencement of the course to qualify.
Successful participants will have learned key skills and when practiced will be able to attempt South Island mountains for example some routes on Aspiring and some 3000m peaks as an independent climber. They will receive feedback on their level of competence and readiness for future climbing objectives.
This is a climbing course. Subject to weather, surface conditions and participant needs, our intention is to climb on Mt Ruapehu in some of these locations for example: Pinnacles, Te Heu Heu ridge, Tahurangi, Girdlestone and Cathedral Rocks. We will be in the mountains during the day and one over-night learning specific skills and knowledge and putting them into practice during mountain travel and ascents of peaks.
Who is the course for?
- NZAC member
- Snowcraft course graduate or similar
- Logged 15 days in the mountains on personal adventures (summer and winter) including ascents of peaks.
- Preferably: Rock climb indoors/outdoors to grade 17
- Can provide references from other club members.
- Good level of fitness: Can carry a 10kg pack for up to 10 hours in alpine environment.

$850 includes MSC Avalanche Awareness
An equipment list will be provided. You are expected to provide your own equipment. NZAC has some gear that can be hired.
HOW TO PAY
The total course fee is $850. To secure your spot on the course you need to pay in full before 1st July 2018 or your place may be given away. After 1st July 2018 there are no refunds.
NB: Please include “Committed18” and your name in your deposit details. It may take a couple of days for the payment to appear in the bank account due to bank clearance times.
