2017 SNOWcraft

Registrations for the 2017 Snowcraft Course are NOW open!

The course is only open to NZAC club members so you will need to join before the commencement of the course to qualify. 
 


WHat is it?

This is an introductory course focused on taking participants new to mountaineering into the mountains to gain skills, confidence and experience in the alpine environment.
The course consists of two weekends down at Mt Ruapehu in July and August and theory nights in Auckland prior to each weekend. To get the most out of the course, you need to attend both weekends and all theory nights, and be prepared to acquire (beg, borrow or hire) the necessary gear (some hire gear available) and suitable clothing/boots.

Theory Night 1
Tuesday 20th June from 7pm at The Dominion Bar, upstairs. This theory night will cover the gear needed for the course. The reason we hold this night over a month in advance is to give you enough time to beg, borrow or buy the gear needed. Remember we have rental gear too.

WHat GEar?

Here list of gear that is needed. But remember as a club member you have access to the clubs rental gear, which we recommend you use before invest in our own gear.

If you have any queries regarding purchasing gear, contact the Course Coordinator. We don't want to see you purchase gear that is unsuitable.


HOW TO PAY

The total course fee is $800. If you prefer, you can pay a $100 non-refundable deposit to secure your spot on the course but the balance needs to be paid in full by 30 June 2017 or your place may be given away. After 30 June 2017 there are no refunds. 

NB: Please include “SnowCraft17” and your name in your deposit details. It may take a couple of days for the payment to appear in the bank account due to bank clearance times.
