WINTER 2024 courses

INTERMEDIATE SNOWCRAFT PACKAGE ($1100)

This package will qualify you as an NZAC Intermediate Climber over 6 weekends (note: the Backcountry Avalanche Course dates are on weekdays).

We now require participants to be able to confidently lead and belay Grade 16+ (AUS system) outdoors.

  • Intermediate Snowcraft Training

    • 12 June: Theory/Climbing Afternoon (Maungarei Springs)

    • 9 - 11 Aug: Practical Weekend (Ruapehu Hut)

  • Backcountry Avalanche Course (Arthur’s Pass)

    • Option 1: 20 - 23 Aug

    • Option 2: 27 - 30 Aug

  • Intermediate Level Trips:

BASIC SNOWCRAFT PACKAGE ($1100)

This package will qualify you as an NZAC Novice Climber over 5 weekends. Gear hire will be provided.

    • 19 - 21 July: Practical Weekend 1 (Rotorua Tramp & Ski Lodge)

    • 2 - 4 Aug: Practical Weekend 2 (Rotorua Tramp & Ski Lodge)

OUTDOOR FIRST AID COURSE 2024

11 - 12 May 2024, 8am - 4pm, Onehunga Community Centre, $325pp (or $350 with NZQA credits)

Learn to apply wilderness first aid through a combination of theoretical training, scenarios and assessments. This course compliments your workplace first aid certificate and serves to further your confidence managing first aid events in outdoor setting. A requirement for all NZ Alpine Club trip leaders, prospective, assistant and lead instructors. Sign up options include optional NZQA credits ($25pp). NZQA US 424 Assess and manage an emergency care situation during an outdoor recreation activity 5 Credits at Level 3
